 Semi-Final D: Judicial Ethics and Professional Conduct

Five teams defended their written papers and presented interesting new cases in the field of EU Judicial Ethics. The competition was held online from 6th to 8st of July. The participates prepared a written paper, video presentation and there was a Q&A session with the jury members and other participating teams. The jury members were Mr. Jeremy Cooper; Professor, Retired Judge and Consultant, Ms. Carolina Fons; Doctor in Law,Head of External and Institutional Relations of the Spanish Judicial School and Ms. Roberta Solis; Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer, Judicial Integrity Team Leader from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Ms Solis presented the activities of UNODC to the Themis participants and informed them on the current documentation and e-learning resources. As part of the joint promotion of the activity, UNODC will publish the selected papers and the video of the winning team on the UNODC website.

The Jury members awarded first place to Team France, second place to Team Serbia and third place to Team Poland. Written papers to be included in the THEMIS 2020 Annual Journal will be from Team France and Team Serbia.

Semi-Final A: EU and European Criminal Procedure

Ten teams defended their written papers and debated the topic of the EU Criminal Procedure with other colleagues and the members of the jury. The competition was held online from 6thto 9thof July.The Members of the jury were Mr David J. Dickson, Head of Extradition, Scottish Prosecution Service, Ms. Christine Gödl; Judge, Federal Ministry of Justice and Mr. Petros Alikakos; Judge and Trainer at the National School of Judiciary

The Jury members awarded first place to Team Hungary, second place to Team Portugal and third place to Team Romania. Written papers to be included in the THEMIS 2020 Annual Journal will be from Team Croatia, Team France and Team Poland.

It has been a challange for everyone, but it all resulted in great success
