Semi-Final B: EU and European Family Law
Six teams defended their written papers and presented interesting new cases in the field of EU family law. The competition was held online from 29th of June to 1st of July. The participates prepared a written paper, video presentation and the Q&A session with the members of the jury. The jury members were Ms. Maarja Torga; Judicial Advisor at the Estonian Supreme Court, Mr. Aleš Galič Professor of International Private Law and Ms. Boriana Musseva,:Head of Department at Sofia University, Attorney and Lecturer at National Institute for Justice.
The Jury members awarded first place to Team Portugal, second place to Team France and third place to Team Hungary. Written papers to be included in the THEMIS 2020 Annual Journal will be from Team Hungary, Team Romania and Team Portugal.
Semi-Final C: EU and European Civil Procedure
Six teams defended their written papers and debated the topic of the EU Civil procedure with other colleagues and the members of the jury. The Members of the jury were Ms Haldi Koit, Advisor at the Ministry of Justice of Estonia and lecturer in private international law, Mr. Hrvoje Grubišić; European Commission, DG JUST: Civil Justice Policy Unit, Secretary of the European Judicial Network (EJN) in Civil and Commercial Matters and Ms. Danutė Jočienė; Constitutional Court of Lithuania, former Judge at the ECtHR
The Jury members awarded first place to Team France, second place to Team Italy and third place to Team Spain. Written papers to be included in the THEMIS 2020 Annual Journal will be from Team Albania and Team France.
