Course Description

The conference addresses judges in all jurisdictions as well as public prosecutors.

It is designed to serve as an introduction to the phenomenon known as Reichsbürger (Citizens of the Reich), and the bizarre belief system of its members. The followers of this movement believe in the continued existence of the German Reich within its 1937 or 1914 borders. Such individuals can often be classified as holding extreme right wing views; they adopt a menacing and belligerent posture, and can be very difficult for servants of the court and other officials to deal with.

Ever since shots were fired at police officers by Reichsbürger, it has become increasingly apparent that this group is also potentially very dangerous.

The event will inform participants about the ideology of the Reichsbürger movement, and will consider the typical arguments put forward by such individuals. Recommendations for legal and concrete responses will also be proposed.

This conference is also being advertised to members of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN). It is especially suited to participants from abroad as well as from Germany itself.
