The EJTN Linguistics Programme is designed for the training of the EU judiciary in legal English, French, German and newly in Spanish, across different fields of law. Many legal language seminars are organised each year as part of this programme, which began in 2011 in various EU countries.
AIM
The Lingsuistics Programme's seminars aim at developing both the legal and linguistics skills of EU judges and prosecutors and creating the conditions for direct contacts between legal practitioners of the different Member States in order to promote a common European legal culture.
KEY TOPICS
The courses are intended to familiarise participants with the various legal instruments in the different fields addressed and provide them with training on specific terminology. The training adopts an interactive, small-group methodology and features the participation of tutors, a linguistic expert and a legal expert.
ACHIEVEMENTS
In 2021, 290 European legal practitioners from 18 EU Member States received training under the auspices of EJTN’s Linguistics Programme. In 2021, participants could choose from a wide range of linguistics seminars, some online and some it was possible to organise again in face-to. The EJTN's Linguistics Programme offered 11 seminars for judges and prosecutors and 4 Summer School seminars for trainee judges and prosecutors.
