TRAINING CONTENT AND TARGET AUDIENCE

 

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Descripton:

Two day advanced level training focused on the right to a fair trial and the notion of effective remedies as a fundamental right (Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights, Article 47 of the EU Charter on Fundamental Rights).

This training will combine theoretical lectures with practical workshops and will allow participants to address issues ranging from judicial independence to the principle of equality of arms and the length of legal proceedings. The sessions will be led by academics, European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and EU Court of Justice (CJEU) officials, trainers and practitioners in the field of EU human rights.

The training will serve as a forum for the exchange of knowledge and best practices between judges and prosecutors from across the EU. Participants are expected to have some background knowledge of the subject. 

 

Target audience: 

Administrative, civil law and criminal law judges from all EU Member states
